q and also a :: Girlfriends
Ben, Supriya and Andy of Boston jangle pop outfit Girlfriends sent us these answers to our questions in this next installment of the q and also a series.
q: What is the last song you (really) heard?
q: What is your favorite beverage?
a: a REAL_BREW
q: What is your favorite band to see live?
b: Black Eyes (rip)
Downloadable: Someone Has His Fingers Broken (mp3)
s: Now Denial
Streamable: Burn On (bandcamp)
Streamable: Roadrunner (youtube)
q: What is your favorite venue (in NYC, if applicable)?
s: Lulu’s in Greenpoint (free pizza)
a: Death By Audio was fun when we played there last.
q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?
b: Resurgences in Echo & Mary Chain haircuts. A VHS copy of White Nights I got at the thrift store. I think it’s a Cold War drama where Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines battle the forces of Communism with dance, but I haven’t actually watched it yet.
s: African Cats.
q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?
b: I’m 4-tracking some songs as Pale Yellow on the side, and finally finishing up the first issue of a zine called Cake Time. Andy and I also book shows and might release some zines and music under the name http://www.caketimeboston.com.
s: We have a full length on the horizon; I, personally, have been pushing to hook up with SKYSCRAPER MUSIC MAKER “super music production” company at SKYSCRAPER STUDIO and get Andrew WK some engineering credits on these tracks. But who knows, that may be a couple projects down the line.
a: Girlfriends is in the process of making an album, and it won’t be recorded through a boombox for the most part.
Here is the first track from that recording process…
