show :: 11/18/14 @ Silent Barn > HEALTH + POP (healthcare forum and Doctors Without Borders benefit)

On the heels of their Ebola-scare-bumped CMJ showcases, FRIEND ROULETTE, THE FLAG and KNTRLR are playing a benefit for Doctors Without Borders at the Silent Barn next week on Tuesday night. The show will be preceded by a presentation by Dr. Edward Fishkin (Medical Director at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center) and Young Ko (Coney Island Hospital / New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation) regarding the Artists Access Program for affordable healthcare for artists:

Artist’s Access, a five-year old program at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, allows artists and performers to trade their creative services for medical care. After applying through HHC Options, a city-subsidized program for the low and middle-income uninsured, Artist’s Access gives artists the equivalent of $40 in health care services for each hour of creative work at the hospital.
