q and also a :: Soupcans

Toronto’s own noisemakers, The Soupcans sent us these answers to our question in this next installment of q and also a.

Their latest longish shredder, Soft Party, comes out tomorrow via the Telephone Explosion label. Buy it (duh).

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

dave: “Where are you now” by Justin Beiber

editor’s note: I question the veracity of this first answer. So, here is some Beiber slowed down 800%.

jordan: “Tattler” by Ry Cooder

nick: “A Flight” by Sheer Agony

q: What is your most common reaction to hearing your own music?

j: Sounds gnarly, I dig it.

d: I don’t know?

n: Perplexion.

q: What is your favorite artist/band to see live?

j: Human Eye.

d: Man Made Hill.

n: New Fries.

q: What is your favorite venue (in NYC, if applicable)?

n: DBA in New York – RIP. CineCycle in Toronto. Drone’s Club in Montreal.

j: DBA when it was around and now I guess Wild Kingdom? Only been there once, but it seems like a rager spot.

d: DAY-BAY-AH rest in peace.

q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?

d: Franco-Canadians.

j: Geospatial mapping. Masonry forts.

n: Rick & Morty. Lana Del Rey. Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!: My Adventures in The Alice Cooper Group.

q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

n: It’s a record and it’s called Soft Party and it’s out on November 17th. It’s probably the best record out of Toronto, ever.

j: The artwork for our new LP looks great. Just got it tonight.

d: I feel real good about it.
