premiere :: Old Table > Dancin’ In Hell

We are super psyched to bring you this here premiere of Old Table‘s music video of Dancin’ In Hell!

Tim Nicholas created the 120 frames per second slow-motion video on an iPhone 6 in a single 30-second long take. Old Table says:

We used 45 feet of homemade dolly track, constructed for about $70 out of PVC pipe and wooden dowels from Home Depot (in the spirit of DIY punk rock, these tracks, along with the jerry-rigged DIY lighting, are fully visible in the video). As far as we know, this is the first music video to be shot entirely in one take in slow motion on a phone. The video also features a performance by modern dancer and choreographer Seta Morton.

Watch.

As part of this premiere, Will Moloney sent us these answers to our questions in this Old Table edition of q and also a.

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: “Bialero” by Sonny & Linda Sharrock

q: What is the first album you remember purchasing?

a: It was between The Wallflowers and Odelay by Beck I chose Odelay (::phew:: I’m HIP!)

q: Is there an album you wished you knew about when you were younger?

a: I kinda wish I got into Neutral Milk Hotel earlier. I get too jealous / resentful of his “legendary indie rock” status nowadays. Our album Coloring is way better than the aeroplane island.. Guaranteed or your money back!

q: What is the last album you purchased?

a: The Cradle’s bandcamp discography.

q: What is your favorite artist/band to see live?

a: Hard question but I’ll go with the band known as “dog”.

q: How exactly did you name your band?

a: I used to make a lot of lists of band names in High School, old table cracked me up because it seemed to be the epitome of mundane. Like it would be the last name anyone would ever think to name their band.

q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?

a: “Live from the Underground” poetry open mic nights in the Bronx are really incredible, there seems to be a really amazing-supportive-inspiring atmosphere there of young people of color finding their creative voices (strong anti-gentrification themes), it feels like maybe a consciousness based revolution can happen someday to topple the oligarchy…. ?????

q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

a: My other band TURBOSLEAZE (with members of No One and the Somebodies) will be releasing the video for our song “Fry Kids PCP Adventureland” (from our McDonald’s EP) soon. It’s gonna be epic with a Ronald McDonald Clown Gang, Vishnu, Wizards, CIA, Drug Dealers, and kush.
