q and also a :: True Womanhood

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

The next band in our continuing q and also a series is True Womanhood.

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofOOe9JkRnE
(ed. note: If you want to know, you’ll just have to click on the youtube link).

q: What is your favorite food?

a: We approve of all the Brooklyn taco trucks. all we eat in new york is pizza and tacos.

q: What is your favorite band to see live?

a: We got to see A Place to Bury Strangers many times over the last year and their live show is certainly an experience. We were also lucky enough to see our friend J. Robbins’ (Jawbox) new band Office of Future Plans play live at Aural States festival in Baltimore just last night (where we also played after a 4 hour drive up through snow) and he’s still got the magic. Other faves include Indian Jewelry and HEALTH, also can’t forget Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt.

Listen:
Everything Always Goes Wrong (mp3) by A Place To Bury Strangers
Freezerburn (mp3) by Jawbox
Swans (mp3) by Indian Jewelry
Death + (mp3) by HEALTH
Fast Forward Regrets (mp3) by Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt

Watch: Halloween Show DC (youtube) by Office of Future Plans

q: What is your favorite venue in NYC (if applicable)?

a: We’ve had great experiences at Glasslands, Death by Audio and Cameo Gallery, but we really want to play at Shea Stadium. Yes, that one.

q: OK, President Obama appoints you as the first Secretary of Culture, to whom do you give your first grant?

a: Dan Deacon, so he can make more of those crazy videos.

Listen: Paddling Ghost (mp3)

Watch: Paddling Ghost (vimeo)

q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

a: We just came out with our debut EP, Basement Membranes and released it through the Baltimore label Environmental Aesthetics. We recorded it at DBA and with J. Robbins in Baltimore and we had such a good time with him we decided to record our full length at his studio as well. We’re hard at work on it at the moment and it’s going to literally slay, we are trying to get Weezy, Gucci Mane, Charles Manson, TI and Phil Spector to do guest vocals and production.

Here is a track off their new Basement Membranes EP.

mp3 :: A Place To Bury Strangers > The Light (Love And Rockets Cover)

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Have you heard anything from Justice Records‘ tribute to Love And Rockets entitled, New Tales To Tell? I recently heard this cover by the loudest band in Brooklyn (A Place To Bury Strangers) and it just sounded soo right. It kind of makes me wish APTBS would do a tour where they played the Love And Rockets album in its entirety (or something like that).

Downloadable: The Light (mp3)

As that probably won’t happen, you should probably listen to this track from APTBS’ new album, Exploding Head?

Downloadable: In Your Heart (mp3)

Upcoming Show:
Oct 29 @ Bowery Ballroom
