q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: must have been last nite b4 i went to bed i was having “youtube adventures” and found the soundtrack to friday the 13th part 8-jason takes manhattan … about a year ago, dustin and cole from beach fossils and ross and i all stayed up til like 6am watching this movie and others while making drunk drawings… we love watching 80′s thrillers, cuz the soundtracks r so funny like this one.

a: my favorite beverage is prolly this fresh juice we make at home when we have groceries …its fresh beets, carrots, kale, apple and ginger!!!!!

q: What is your favorite band to see live?

a: my favorite band to see live has to be Ava Luna, they just signed to infinite best, cant wait to hear that album! also: “Friends” know how to thrash out the jamz!!!!! those kids live at market hotel and have been such good compadres to us!…they recently covered “magical date night” @ monster island and i missed it! ;\

q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?

q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

a: we’re almost done w our debut record!!! its got 12 songs, less reverb …and all the songs from our orig . demos that were blogged about this past year… but recorded by carlos hernandez of ava luna… with great Mics and and this really cool old mixer from the 70′s …we ran all the drums and vocals thru the old pre amp channels to get an amazing tone … its all about TONE on this record !!!!!!! i’ve never worked so hard in the studio on any recording as i have on our debut… we’re thrilled to have it released late june/ early july w Marshall Tellar records in London— and possibly a Major label here in the u.s. … its also gonna have several new songs that kids have only heard at shows recently like “shitty baby” … “Thyme traveling high school dropout” …”Stealing from salvation army” (which is a protest song to battle conservatives) … also a instrumental psych tune that’s just designed to get high too called “Kools MCrules”..and a ode to the last time emily and i drank 4Loko hahaha called “no mo 4loko” which is very grungy ;) plus all the orig tunes like psychic mesa, crystal necklace, Secret VHS collection, these condos don’t belong, magical date night etc….

Beach Fossils are set to release their What a Pleasure EP on February 22nd via the Captured Tracks label. The band is crafting tunes that seem to be time-traveling in from a college radio station playing “modern rock” sometime in 1987. Bring on the jangle. Listen.
