Oh and we asked Safe Hex a few questions in this brief q and also a cross post…
q: What is the last song you (really) heard?
a: I really dug King Krule’s recent single “Dum Surfer”. I was a fan of his earlier stuff back in the day and was pleasantly surprised when I heard his new album. The groove on that particular track is perfect.
l: I don’t have a stereo in my car and I’m very selective about my music choice. I looked numerous version’s of Brahms’ Lullaby last night. Love that melody.
q: Is there an album you wished you knew about when you were younger?
a: I really wish I would have gotten into Brian Eno‘s discography earlier than I did. Especially his ambient series.
l: God, so many. The worst part is that I was alive when they were out I just didn’t have the awareness at the time. Siamese Dream (Smashing Pumpkins), Seventeen Seconds (The Cure), The Hot Rock (Sleater-Kinney), Post (Bjork).
q: What is your favorite memory of a live music experience?
a: I’ve seen a lot of really great live shows. One that comes to mind at the moment is seeing Sigur Rós at Radio City Music Hall last year. I’ve seen them a few times, but they sounded and looked particularly amazing in that venue.
l: I was in a band one time and at one of our last shows I got to crowd surf in a house while playing guitar. It was me at my most rock star.
q: What is the last album that you purchased?
a: The last album I purchased was “Not for Music” by the band Emptiness.
l: That’s going back a while for me. I got Gláss’ album Accent in January of 2017. Maybe December of 2016? I seemingly have had lots of tape trades over the last year.
q: What should we know about Safe Hex?
a: One interesting fact about Safe Hex is that we met on Craigslist.
l: 2018 is going to be hard.
