q and also a :: CLONE

LG and Dom of Brooklyn’s own CLONE sent us these answers to our questions in this latest installment of q and also a.

q: What is the first album you remember purchasing for yourself?

LG >>> Nirvana – Muddy Banks of the Wishkah. I just put on the screaming in the beginning on repeat, I didn’t even listen to the songs. (I did a few years later)

Dom >>> R.E.M. – “Monster” for me. I was 10.

q: Is there an album you wished you knew about when you were younger?

LG >>> Any record by the Fall, I didn’t get into them past “Totally Wired and Mr Pharmacist” until last year. Especially with the Brix Smith albums…. she rules.

Dom >>> I wish I had discovered late 70s punk music when I was a ‘lil tween. I couldn’t stand mohawks and studs. Also, I wish I had heard of Yo La Tengo when I was much younger, I would have liked them quite a bit I think.

q: What is the last album that you purchased?

LG >>>> Broken Water “Wrought” on vinyl

Dom >>>> Ovlov “Am” and “TRU”. Still waiting for them to arrive!

q: What is one of your favorite memories of experiencing music in a live setting?

LG >>>>Watching the drummer from …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead drop 3 stories off a a light scaffolding into a sweaty pit during a performance in Coney Island at the Siren Fest. Once he hit the crowd they just ripped his clothes off and then he had to flash back on to the stage and drum with his giblets all bouncing around.

Dom >>>> Seeing Stereolab for the first time last year is one of my favorite shows that I can remember.

q: What is the best and worst thing about being a musical artist during COVID?

LG >>>>> The best is definitely all this internal head time hanging out in the basement writing and working on music // video by me and my friends. It’s an easy time to work on those demons. I’ve always struggled a bit with getting focused now I get to do it with a mask on. The worst is missing out on those drink tickets. It’s the 2 DRANK TICKETS that really motivate me.

Dom >>>> I have finally set up a little station in my apartment for recording but it is really hard for me to get motivated when all of this is going on. If you were to ask what I would do in a situation like this I would probably say “record an album”…

q: What should we know about CLONE?

LG>>>>>>> We’re a little Covid baby. We were just born and then the world stopped. Hopefully, we can celebrate our 1 year anniversary this summer by playing a show but I doubt it…we’re just gonna keep writing for the time being until we can go back to the studio….can’t wait to share.
