q: What is the last song you (really) heard?
rupe: ‘Waiting Time’ by Ya Ya Choral.
charles: Lady Shave by Fad Gadget
q: What is the first album you remember purchasing?
rupe: The single of that Chumbawumba song that lists different types of drinks. Loved it.
charles: NOW 31 for Some Might Say and Boom Boom Boom
q: What is the last album that you purchased?
rupe: Linoleum by Basement Rain
charles: Lux Campaign by E-Saggila
q: What is your favorite memory of experiencing music in a live setting?
rupe: Seeing people I know play in very good bands takes up a good chunk of my memory because it made me realize that making music is possible.
charles: The most vivid is watching Pulp at V Festival in Victoria Park, Warrington from a wall outside. Not so much for the music but it was summer, I was 9 or 10 – the police had lost all control of the teenagers and drunks climbing into the grounds and bouncing on riot vans.
q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?
rupe: The fiction of Gerald Murnane and Alexis Wright.
charles: Instagram narcissism
q: What should we know about Portable Dogs?
rupe: There are two of us, we both live in a country neither of us were born in, and it’s all improvised!
