Zach Hill has been drumming since 1995 with among others Hella, Holy Smokes, Nervous Cop, Team Sleep, Wavves, Goon Moon, Marnie Stern, Crime in Choir, Bygones, CHLL PLL, and Flössin. On his second solo metal/noise/prog/punk/shred effort, Hill is working with Devendra Banhart, Guillermo Scott Herren (a/k/a Prefuse 73), No Age, Deerhoof, and umm… Hella. The album is called Face Tat. Listen.

I have friends with facial tattoos who are some of the most positive people I know, and have friends & family without facial tattoos that have taken their own lives within this past year. I found that idea very interesting and metaphorical on many levels — whether true or not — and began using my personal thoughts on this as a muse/concept that could be applied to many different contexts.

So, lofihatermagnet Wavves has a new mp3 posted on the GHOST RAMP blawg. Much like the last mp3 he posted, this one is long… almost 6 minutes!! Not sure if I absolutely love the new direction that Mr. Williams is going with these longers jamz, but this one is growing on me. Also, it being reported that Hella/CHLL PLL (among others) drummer Zach Hill has joined the Wavves organization in a full-time capacity. Listen to the results…

Guillermo Scott Herren a/k/a Prefuse 73 has a new album set for release. It is entitled Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian. The “ampex” of Ampexian refers to analog Ampex tape. Apparently, Prefuse 73 eschewed the digital on this one. The 29 track “concept” album may be recorded using analog technology, but at the same time it sounds futuristic (much like The World Of Tomorrow?). To be honest, this is kinda what I thought music was going to sound like in the future when I was a child. Be sure to check out the “Yes-worthy” coverart below. The album drops comes out on April 14.

Herren’s latest incarnation Diamond Watch Wrists is going to release the album Ice Capped at Both Ends on April 28. The album features drumming from Hella’s Zach Hill as well as Herren’s “previously unheard nods to 60′s European acid-folk, classic American singer-songwriters and krautrock.” Check out an mp3 at the LA Record… here.
