UPDATE: I totally forgot about that EP of reworked The Forms songs that was announced last year. We heard there are a lot of awesome guests on it. Matt Berninger of little band known as The National is one name that was thrown around. I suppose the EP is being meticulously tweaked in the band’s recording studio. I assume the EP will be released this year.

Oh, and I’m sure no one will notice a new release from LCD Soundsystem.

So, you probably heard by now that Spoon is releasing their latest LP Transference early next year somewhere around Jan 25 or 26th. It should be noted that this is the first time the band is working without a producer. So, this is what Spoon thinks Spoon should sound like without any filter (or something like that anyway).

The 1st Transference leak showed up last night, and I can’t say I absolutely love love it, but hey that’s just me. I bring you now to The Mystery Zone.

Spoon is giving away 4 mp3s to celebrate the upcoming deluxe digital release of their first four albums. The albums will be available on Sept 29 directly from the band. The mp3s (or FLAC for audio nerds) will come with digital liner notes. The band also made the following semi-cryptic statement: “Limited edition new items and some formerly out of print items will also be made available.” We’ll just have to wait and see what that entails. Anyway, back to the 4 free mp3s… I post the widgets below:
