Ernest Gonzales a/k/a Mexicans with Guns has remixed a track off DotW’s upcoming (probably free) album. To state this in the vernacular, Gonzales makes it jodido (you know, in a good way). Listen.
And if you haven’t done it already, make sure you check out the other monthly mixes.
Also, If you want to download all the individual tracks in this post, you should probably think about installing the DownThemAll! or FlashGot Firefox extensions.
You can purchase music by the artists above at awesome online retailers like Other Music, Insound, and Amazon MP3, or if you are into the whole subscription thing there’s eMusic.

So, I am not going to SXSW this year, but if I was here is a selection of mp3s from bands I would want to see. I was able to whittle down the list to 40 songs. No easy task. Listen.
a: Any kind of New Mexican (I am required by state law to say this). Specifically, a carne adovada burrito from Garcia’s Kitchen. Or, alternately, a breakfast burrito from The Frontier.
q: What is your favorite venue in NYC (if applicable)?
a: n/a. I have been to NY once but that was 10 years ago and I don’t remember anything about it except for freezing to death and buying a fake ID in a luggage store.
q: OK, President Obama appoints you as the first Secretary of Culture, to whom do you give your first grant?
a: Hmm, probably Aether, or Zoon van snooK if I could give it to someone in the UK.
q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?
a: Well, the DOTW album is coming out in a few months (ed. note: Day Of The Woman is a collaboration with Yppah and Stenographer). Also there are some new Pollination EPs waiting in the wings and hopefully some sort of tour… should be a pretty decent year.

Ernest Gonzales creates the blend of electronic and live instrumentation that will swirl around the small folds of your frontal lobe. Here are his answers in this installment of q and also a.
q: What is the last song you (really) heard?
a: Literally the last song I heard was Ke$ha’s Tik Tok (youtube) (ed. note: click at your own risk) which I have a love/hate relationship with but really really heard was Wind it Up (youtube) by Mark Pritchard…that song is nerdy south hard!
a: Hands down Grand Buffet is one of my favorite bands to see live. 200% energy with every song performed and the bits in between the songs are hilarious.
q: What is your favorite venue in NYC (if applicable)?
a: Gotta go with Public Assembly…right before the show I ripped a huge whole in the ass of my pants so I changed in the sound booth and left them there…sorry to the soundguy if you are reading this.
q: OK, President Obama appoints you as the first Secretary of Culture, to whom do you give your first grant?
a: I would give a lifetime grant to Michel Gondry to just keep doing his thing with a stipulation that he’d have to make a music video for me equal to or better than Sugar Water (youtube) from Cibo Matto.
q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

Continuing our Best of 2009 coverage, I put together a mix of my favorite tracks from 2009 and uploaded it to the Soundcloud. These are my top 19 tracks from the past year.
And now more Best of 2009 coverage. These are most awesome albums of the year.
I thought I was gonna get this list down to 10, but I couldn’t do it (I tried). There were a bunch more excellent albums were released this year, but these were the ones I kept coming back to again and again a clear indicator of awesomeness.
So this post contains (pretty much) all of my favorite mp3s from 2009. I have not put them in any sort of preferential order. These are sorted by artist in alphabetical order.
Take your time, scroll slowly, there are some real gems here. You may notice some big names missing here. Well, you know you can find those mp3s elsewhere (right?).
I will be putting up best of 2009 posts all week, so make sure you check back here soon. Also, if you haven’t already, you should check out largehearted boy’s 2009 Year-End Online Music Lists. Good stuff.
Without any further ado, I present the Top 109 Downloadables of 2009.
While part one of my Best Of The Aughts list consisted of tracks I would have liked to have blogged about, part two here is sort of a Best Of GIMME TINNITUS. This list was supposed to be about 30 songs long, but it just kept growing. Download individual tracks or grab all of them in three zips or just stream them from the yahoo music dealie on the bottom left part of the window.
Here are the best songs I actually blogged about this decade.
If figure there maybe one or possibly two songs that will get listed at the very end of the year so I am holding a couple spaces just in case there is anything totally fucking amazing that comes out between now and then.
If you want more Best Of The Decade style blog coverage head over to largehearted boy for some aggregation.
So we were pretty excited to received a mixtape from Nick the other day. If you want the real “mixtape” experience with the 79MB file below maybe you should get one of THESE (and if you do let me know if it actually works).
