audio stream :: DEVO > Hardcore Vols. 1 + 2
Time to talk about another great reissue from the good folks at Superior Viaduct. They have teamed up with Booji Boy Records to release a two volume set of early DEVO recordings entitled, Hardcore.
DEVO started as a conceptual art project preaching the gospel of devolution. Their pre-punk “devolved blues” came forth out of the Akron, Ohio underground rock scene. These songs were recorded on “various 4-track machines and in tiny studios, basements, and garages between 1974-1977”. They are post-modern propaganda in the form of rock ‘n’ roll. The songs jerk back and forth as the lyrics explore post-McCarthy paranoia, middle-class ephemera, and sex (or a lack thereof). Hardcore is set to be released on June 25th.
This is DEVO.
