Two Inch Astronaut is a trio of postpunks: Matt Gatwood on drums, Sam Rosenberg on guitar and vocals, and Daniel Pouridas on bass. On June 18th, Two Inch will release their first full-length LP, entitled Bad Brother via the always excellent, Exploding In Sound Records. (Full Disclosure: I am throwing a 2 day unofficial Northside showcase with EIS, but you already knew that, right?)
The band is based in Colesville, MD, sandwiched between DC and Baltimore. They will be touring with Baltimore’s own Hive Bent this June (see dates below), and will be playing the 2nd night of the EISGTNSIDE13 craziness.
Here is track number four off of Bad Brother.
Listen.
Downloadable: Blood From a Loyal Hound (mp3) (as seen)
You can preorder the limited edition translucent purple edition of Bad Brother @ bandcamp.com.

Speedy Ortiz‘s full-length debut, Major Arcana, is set to be released on July 9th via Washington DC’s Carpark Records. Listening to Major Arcana, I could not help but notice the care that was given to capturing the heavier, more chaotic nature of the Speedy Ortiz live show. This is only May, but I think I can state with confidence that this LP is one of the Best of 2013.
This right here is the promomp3.
Listen.
Downloadable: Tiger Tank (mp3)
Preorder will be available soon @ store.carparkrecords.com.
And if you have not heard the Sports EP (released by GT favs Exploding in Sound Records) you can still grab the digital @ speedyortiz.bandcamp.com. Sorry, the cassette and the 10″ are both sold out

Hive Bent of Baltimore produce “loud sounds from a sunn amp and a drumkit”.
They have been called many things:
post-post-modern hardcore
bunge
bunge rock
guavacado noise
noise rock
Silly genre jokes aside, there are some very serious things happening here, they are just being expressed with screaming and feedback.
This right here is the whole of Hive Bent‘s debut recording, U NEUTRAL.

You can d/l the 24 tracks above all zipped up @ sendspace.com.
You can stream the tracks above @ 8tracks.com.
You can also stream some of the tracks from this post @ new.myspace.com.
And here is every other song that you should totally download right now arranged by artist.
You can stream (and scrobble) all the songs in this post using the ex.fm player at the bottom of the page OR you can download any or all of the tracks at your leisure and play them using a digital media player of your choice.
If you want to download all the individual tracks in this post, you should probably think about installing the DownThemAll! or FlashGot Firefox extensions as we are way too lazy to zip and upload every single mp3 in this post.
Also, if you like what you hear you should probably purchase music from the above artists at any of these fine online retailers (or your local independent record store):
Insound | eMusic | Other Music
Oh, and be sure to check out our of best of posts, and while you are at it why not peruse previous GIMME TINNITUS best of songs lists from 2011, 2010, and 2009?
