mp3 :: Grooms > Tiger Trees

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Known as purveyors of the LOUDquietLOUD aesthetic, Grooms are mixing glitchy electronic, ambient, and classic pop sounds into the mix here. Listen.

q and also a :: Grooms

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

And now the next q and also a with GROOMS

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: Fallen Angel (lala link) by King Crimson

q: What is your favorite food?

a: Brick oven pizza, but saag paneer sounds really really good right now.

q: What is your favorite band to see live?

a: Lately, probably Sisters. Maybe Knyfe Hyts too. Or Skeletons. They played with a big band at the Death by Audio maze a few months ago and it was incredible.

Listen:
Street Cars (mp3) by Sisters
Smoke The Milk (mp3) by Knyfe Hyts
THE THINGS (mp3) by Skeletons

q: What is your favorite venue in NYC (if applicable)?

a: Most comfortable is at DBA, but Cake Shop is not without its charms.

q: OK, President Obama appoints you as the first Secretary of Culture, to whom do you give your first grant?

a: Myself, so that I can start up a record label and put out numerous different projects I think are underrated, and maybe help push out some of the stuff that’s massively overrated.

q: Anything we should know about your latest project (whatever that might be)?

a: We’re currently working a new album that will be released (hopefully) later this year on Kanine. It’s starting to take shape and it’s kinda weirding me out a little bit. I’m not really sure how to explain what it sounds like so far, but I’m more than a bit surprised by some of the directions and sounds. Emily even plays guitar on some of the new ones.

Here are a couple tracks from Grooms latest LP, Rejoicer.

Listen:
Dreamsucker (mp3)
Acid King Of Hell (Guitar Feelings) (mp3)

Upcoming Shows:
Jan 30 (TONIGHT!) @ 87 Lafayette w/ Julianna Barwick, Knyfe Hyts, Noveller and MNDR
Feb 27 @ Market Hotel w/ Surfer Blood, Beach Fossils and Turbo Fruits
