q and also a :: Pile

Rick Maguire of Pile is back for another q and also a. He sent us these answers to our questions for this latest installment.

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: “Echo’s Answer” by Broadcast, “Old Man” by Randy Newman or “Andromeda” by Weyes Blood. All three have been in heavy rotation in my head.

q: What is the last album that you purchased?

a: The first three tapes by the band Glued. But they’re new album “Cool Evil” is really good, too. They are an excellent band.

q: Is there an album you wished you knew about when you were younger?

a: I don’t think so. It seems that when albums resonate with me it’s because I heard them at that point in time; whatever led to that point is what shaped how I would feel about any particular record.

q: What is your most common reaction to hearing your own music?

a: I wish my guitar and voice were in tune.

q: What is your favorite way to listen to music?

a: In bed with headphones or driving. In the former, it feels like I’m studying whatever I’m listening to while I’m absorbed in it. In the latter, it feels like a soundtrack to something.

q: What piece(s) of culture are you really really excited about right now?

a: I really wonder what it’s going to be like when all those condos are empty because nobody can afford them.

q: What should we know about Green and Gray?

a: I’m proud of the record and I’m excited to share and perform it.
